After releasing her first indie track, Ocean Eyes on YouTube, she started to become insanely popular to those who could access this video. Who was watching this music video and making it reach over 1M views? Other 14 year olds! This is because YouTube is where todays kids spend so much of their time. In essence, she created a song about how she was feeling and it resonated so much with other kids her age – it became a teen anthem.
